The Day Isn’t Over After Your 9 To 5

For a lot of people having 9 to 5 jobs, we often look forward to going home and relaxing after a hard day at work. (Of course, if you have to take care of kids after work, that’s a whole other job. Kudos to you!) Maybe have some takeaway dinner, binge watch a TV series, or play online/video games for hours. And then go to sleep, wake up the next day, go to work, and repeat the process all over again.

The question is, do you want to do this for the rest of your life? If you do, then you are one of the lucky ones! It’s great that you are able to do what you love and see yourself doing it for as long as you can. However, it’s not the case for most of us. Yes, we need our jobs to pay for our bills, we might like what we are currently doing, but ultimately, we picture our future as something a little bit different. Possibly become more financially secure, where there is an option to take a break from work if we wanted to. It maybe having our own business, or maybe doing a project that we are really passionate about, or maybe just progressing with our career. Whatever it is, we have dreams that we want to reach.

The day isn’t over after your 9 to 5. There are still 7 hours left. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not suggesting that you work yourself to the point of exhaustion and breakdown (I am all for balance and self-care!) But while it is important to recharge and rest after working hard, it would be great if we can spend a few minutes of our day to do something that would take us closer to our dreams. Instead of playing games for 3 hours, maybe you could reduce that time a little bit and spend 15-30 minutes reading a book, watching an informative video, researching about how to build your business or passive income, or working on your passion project. Yes, we all want to rest after spending the whole day at work (and we should). But if you think about it, 15-30 minutes isn’t a whole lot of time either. Spending a little extra time to work on your dreams will take you further, faster, to where you want to go. Good luck! 👍
